Terrific Tuesday Fundraiser

It’s the season for Terrific Tuesdays funding! The local program provides a day of respite care for persons over age 50 with forms of memory loss. Terrific Tuesdays is held each Tuesday from 9am til 2pm at First United Methodist Church, downtown Sulphur Springs. Annually, cost to operate the program runs about $10,000. The fundraising drive is in progress through October 6 with a series of mini-walks held at area nursing home and assisted living facilities. We have 4 Baskets and a Rag Doll named “Rose” who is a Yellow Rose of Texas to be Raffled off to raise money for Terrific Tuesdays during the “A Walk To Remember” fund raiser. Lake Country Classics Car Club Makes An Appearance Downtown

Lake Country Car Club from Quitman, Texas made a stop in downtown Sulphur Springs Tuesday afternoon. The car club formerly held the largest car show in East Texas with 319 registrants in 2015. Several classics appeared on Gilmer Street while the club chatted with local car enthusiasts and made for a spontaneous, classic hometown event. Community Outreach Lunch and Food Pantry Open September 10th, 2016

At the Church of Christ located on 154 MLK Jr. Dr. in Sulphur Springs, Texas a free lunch will be served on September 10th, 2016 from 11 am to 1 pm. The food pantry will also be open as well.  The event is scheduled to reoccur on the 2nd Saturday of each month. Lunch Ministry and Food Pantry Coordinators are Brother Delante Jackson, Elder Danny Hynson, Elder Fred Weeks, Sister Sequita Mosley, Katie Robinson, Sister Bettye Harrison, and Sister Amanda Wilkins.

Whoa that rain was nice? We had 1.4 inches of rain. Unexpected blessing. Do you have army worms? I heard they were bad in Hunt County and my neighbor, Mike Moore, told me yesterday he had to spray his pastures for worms. We loved watching the plane fly over.
