SSES Hosts Summer Programs for Hopkins County
Sulphur Springs Elementary School is hosting a variety of summer programs for all of Hopkins County. There is Happy Campers Summer School, Summer YMCA, STEM, Cooking Camp, open library, and a free meals program. Shelby Gibson, District Elementary Librarian for all of the elementary schools in Sulphur Springs, sat down with KSST to talk about the programs being offered this summer at SSES. By Savannah Owens The 911 Connection event was put on by the first responders to educate children and the public about safety. “The city of Commerce has a fire education trailer and the Sulphur Springs firemen asked if we would bring the trailer over and teach the kids about fire safety. The Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office has began selling produce from the Trustee Farm. During a Saturday night interview, Sheriff Lewis Tatum explained that they will be selling any excess squash, zucchini, okra, and tomatoes that they grow for that week. In addition to a stand at Celebration Market, the Sheriff’s Office has constructed a produce stand across from the Hopkins County Jail.
