Emergency sirens were originally scheduled to be tested in Sulphur Springs today, Wednesday, June 22, 2022 by the Sulphur Springs Emergency Management at noon. However, due to the National Weather Service’s current prediction of potential cloud cover and showers and thunderstorms into the afternoon, city officials have decided to delay the test until a day when the weather is predicted to be clear and sunny, with no potential storm or other weather event other than heat predicted. The Hopkins County Dairy Festival will culminate Saturday night with the Coronation Pageant in the SSHS Auditorium (at Hopkins County Civic Center). After two years without a pageant due to COVID-19 precautions, this year’s pageant features one of the biggest groups of competitors yet.
