Funeral service for Ruth (Petty) Miller, age 96, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 20, 2026, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Bro. Byron George officiating. Interment will follow at Brashear Cemetery with Jerry Petty, Justin Petty, Jason Petty, Casey Petty, Cody Kinsey, and Tyler Childers serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Beck and Dewayne Brezski. Visitation will be held at 1:00 P.M. prior to service at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Ruth passed away at her residence on Thursday, April 16, 2026.
Ruth (Petty) Miller was born on July 3, 1929, in Cumby, Texas, to the late Henry and Annie Belle (Smith) George. She married Clyde Petty in Sulphur Springs, Texas, on December 22, 1948, he preceded her in 1987. She then married Harold Miller in Brashear, Texas, on July 16, 1992. Ruth was a devoted wife and mother. She loved cooking, gardening and fishing, passions that brought her both comfort and happiness throughout her life. She enjoyed hard work and she REALLY liked it when her kids were working hard with her. She loved for all of her children and grandchildren to gather at her house for home-cooked meals. Ruth was a member of Divide Baptist Church, but also attended Central Baptist Church with her late husband, Harold.
Ruth is survived by sons, Michael Wayne Petty and wife Linda of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Ray Glenn Petty and wife Pam of Sulphur Springs, Texas, Johnny Petty of Cumby, Texas, Steve Petty and wife Tina of Alamo, Texas; daughters, Jan Buck and husband Craig of Brashear, Texas, Jeannie Petty of Cumby, Texas; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-two great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren; brother, Glen George and wife Carolyn; and sisters-in-law, Patsy George and Sue Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, Clyde Petty and Harold Miller; son, Roger Petty; and two grandchildren.
