Jonathan Joseph Dalzell

Jon graduated from Sunset High School in 1967 and received a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A & M University in 1971. He was a master at his trade and had a successful 28 year career as Vice President of Construction for Methodist Health System.

He volunteered for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Reserve for 9 years. He loved travels to New Mexico, cooking, any activity with Matt and Meredith, gardening, and FOX News.

After retirement, Jon moved to Yantis, Texas and became a Texas Master Gardener and was active in the Hopkins County Master Gardeners. He really enjoyed “Ag in the Classroom “ program. He was also a member of the Hopkins County Beekeepers Association and Ark-Tex Council of Governments.

Jon is preceded in death by his wife, Sophie Dalzell and his parents Joe and Judie Dalzell. A loving brother and devoted uncle, he is survived by his sister Diane Miller (Brad), his favorite nephew Matt High, his favorite niece Meredith Foster (Andrew), and his precious great nephew and niece Cohen High and Mackenzie Foster. He will be forever missed.

A private family burial will be in Reilly Springs Cemetery. Memorials in Jon’s memory may be made to The Mechanical Engineering Department at Texas A & M University and to the Methodist Health System Foundation (NICU).
