Wood County Sheriff’s Report For Sep. 3-Sep. 10, 2019

September 3rd

  • Deputies were dispatched to Alba-Golden ISD, at approximately 12:26 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:00 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1858 near Yantis, at approximately 3:11 a.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:58 a.m., in reference to theft on Lake Holbrook’s beach. Deputies located the stolen property and returned it to the owner.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 8000 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:02 a.m., in reference to theft. A known actor stole money from the reporting party. This case is active.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2235 near Mineola, at approximately 9:21 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:36 a.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3426 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:18 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 8:04 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • At 8:36 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Yantis.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Comanche near Quitman; at approximately 11:24 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

September 4th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2377 near Alba; at approximately 2:07 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2377 near Alba, at approximately 2:13 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:07 a.m., in reference to possible theft by check. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4849 near Winnsboro, at approximately 10:22 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:25 a.m., in reference to a scam on CR 2770 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Indian Gap near Quitman, at approximately 1:42 p.m., in reference to harassment. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 2:33 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4870 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:55 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Thomas Caviness, 51, of Winnsboro, was arrested for Assault, Assault Causes Bodily Injury, and Assault Causes Bodily Injury of Family/Household Member – Impede Breathing/Circulation.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2503 near Mineola, at approximately 3:24 p.m., in reference to an animal complaint. Deputies located the dog and made contact with the owner. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 515 near Yantis, at approximately 5:06 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. The vehicle was located and towed by Joes Wrecker.
  • At 5:28 p.m., horses were reported out on CR 3875 near Hawkins.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3130 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:13 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Spur 514 near Yantis, at approximately 6:45 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2330 near Mineola, at approximately 7:54 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 7:55 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Comanche near Quitman; at approximately 10:02 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

September 5th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 1:40 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 2:32 a.m. Deputies checked the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to HWY 80 near Mineola; at approximately 3:29 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 6:46 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the front door to the reporting party’s restaurant. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • At 9:01 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 17 near Alba.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3430 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:45 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 8000 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:28 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties and determined this was a civil matter.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1860 near Yantis, at approximately 7:54 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the night.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3875 near Mineola, at approximately 8:38 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies made contact with the actor and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:02 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:15 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a trailer dolly from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on Main St. in Yantis; at approximately 1:25 p.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 69 near Alba, at approximately 2:48 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and determined it was an accident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2260 near Mineola, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. The individual was located and transported to the hospital.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4420 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:17 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

September 7th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1885 near Yantis; at approximately 12:54 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Alba, at approximately 1:40 a.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 5:54 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 8:11 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s business sign.
  • At 9:24 a.m., cows were reported out on Loop 564 near Mineola.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2869 near Winnsboro; at approximately 11:46 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 11:55 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the day.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3540 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:20 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the wrecked vehicle and forwarded this incident to DPS.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 2869 near Hawkins; at approximately 4:45 p.m. Ronnie Owen, 23, of Hawkins, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3496 near Hawkins, at approximately 6:15 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies made contact with the individual and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 1643 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:53 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 10:09 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on Loop 564 near Mineola; at approximately 10:11 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

September 8th

  • At 1:12 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 17 near Yantis.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:17 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154 near Yantis; at approximately 3:30 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • At 10:51 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.
  • At 2:01 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 17 near Alba.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1941 near Yantis, at approximately 2:26 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the actor.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 11 near Winnsboro, at approximately 3:26 p.m., in reference to a possible assault. Prior to the deputies’ arrival, the actors left the scene.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 6:10 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
  • At 7:54 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4470 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:51 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the night.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2560 near Mineola, at approximately 9:59 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

September 9th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle near Lake Holbrook; at approximately 12:36 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 2:20 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 7:56 a.m., in reference to a reckless driver on CR 1570 near Alba. Deputies advised the reporting party that extra patrol would be provided.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4358 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:50 a.m., in reference to a theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a utility trailer from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 1:29 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Main St. in Yantis, at approximately 3:54 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1970 near Yantis, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the homeowner and everything was OK.

September 10th

  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 4:06 a.m. Dwayne Acrey, 47, of Emory, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tamper Fabricate Physical Evidence with Intent to Impair.
  • At 7:45 a.m., cows were reported out on FM 14 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2958 near Alba, at approximately 10:07 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 84, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and no autopsy was ordered.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 2290 near Alba; at approximately 1:30 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 515 near Yantis; at approximately 2:44 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:36 p.m., in reference to a scam on CR 2198 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:56 p.m., in reference to an unauthorized use of a motor vehicle on CR 1970 near Yantis. Deputies determined this was a civil matter and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:03 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

  • Between the dates of September 3 and September 10, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Emergency Medical Services, Grand Saline Police Department, Department of Public Safety and Hawkins Police Department.
  • Between the dates of September 3 and September 10, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators obtained 1 arrest warrant and arrested the individual and filed 3 cases with the District Attorney.
  • Total Jail Count: 131 inmates – 114 males and 17 females.
