Wood County Sheriff’s Report May 29-June 4, 2019

May 29th

  • Deputies were dispatched, at approximately 7:23 a.m., to County Road 2110 on an animal complaint regarding a snake.  The snake was relocated from the residence to the woods.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1360 in Quitman, at approximately 10:01 a.m., in reference to an alarm.  The residence and barn were secured and there was no sign of activity.
  • Deputies spoke with reporting party, at approximately 10:17 a.m., in reference to a concern of a possible harassment of her daughter at graduation ceremonies.  Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2275, at approximately 1:27 p.m., in reference to a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle was parked off the roadway and was determined not to be a traffic hazard.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the Lake Holbrook Beach area, at approximately 2:43 p.m., on a report of 2 people smoking marijuana.  Deputies located the individuals and requested permission to search the vehicle which they received. When the vehicle door was opened, a very strong odor of marijuana emanated from the truck cab.  Deputies discovered a small white tube containing marijuana buds and Xanax bars. Justin Hillard-Kennedy, 31, of Mineola was arrested for possession of drugs.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2205 in Mineola, at approximately 4:28 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  The call was cancelled prior to arrival.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4494 in Winnsboro, at approximately 4:41 p.m., for a dispute.  Upon arrival, the Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3990 in Hawkins, at approximately 5:14 p.m., on a domestic assault call.  The reporting party claimed injuries from being hit in the face with a bottle, but due to conflicting witness statements, the case is being forwarded to investigators.  
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4165 in Quitman, at approximately 6:21 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  This turned out to be a false alarm per the alarm company.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 1254 in Mineola, at approximately 7:22 p.m.  No offense had occurred, but the citizen requested additional patrols in the area.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4360, at approximately 7:26 p.m., in regards to a tornado touching down.  The citizen was referred to the Red Cross for additional assistance.
  • Deputies were contacted at approximately 7:41 p.m., in regards to phone harassment.  The reporting party was out of state and the harassing caller was calling from outside of Wood County.  The caller was given advice on how to handle the situation.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2110 in Quitman, at approximately 7:46 p.m., in regards to a burglary in progress.  Upon arrival, deputies located a subject who had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from him, standing in the roadway.  Joshua Ray Scott, 27, of Alba, was arrested for public intoxication and transported to the Wood County Jail. The homeowner declined to pursue any charges for burglary.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 in Hawkins, at approximately 8:57 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies spoke with the homeowner and everything was ok.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2944 in Golden, at approximately 9:25 p.m., in reference to a domestic disturbance.  A subject was transported to hospital for evaluation.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 off of Highway 37, at approximately 9:51 p.m., to assist a motorist who had driven into high water.  A towing company was contacted on their behalf and TX DOT put up barricades on the road.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2920 in Alba, at approximately 10:58 p.m., in regards to a disturbance in progress.  One of the individuals stated that she had been assaulted by 2 other individuals. Due to conflicting statements by the individuals and witnesses, this case was forwarded to investigators.

May 30th

  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1416 near FM 2966, at approximately 2:27 a.m., regarding a suspicious vehicle.  Deputies located a car parked at the location with minor damage.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6338 in Mineola, at approximately 3:32 a.m., regarding a dispute / shots fired.  A family member violated a protective order by coming onto the property and shooting out a car window. When the deputies arrived, the subject was no longer at the residence, however, at 5:18 a.m., dispatch was notified that the subject was at the hospital with an accidental gunshot wound to his foot.  Due to the ongoing nature of this situation, this case was forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2840 in Mineola, at approximately 9:09 a.m., regarding an animal complaint.  Deputies put the loose dog back inside of the fence and notified the owner.
  • Deputies received information regarding possible drug activity in the Holly Lake Ranch area.  This information has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party regarding a complaint of a pack of dogs chasing cows on Highway 182 in Alba.  Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies received information, at approximately 11:28 a.m., that a possible sexual assault had occurred on County Road 3800 in Hawkins.  A report was made to Child Protective Services and this case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies responded to a call on County Road 3144 in Quitman, at approximately 11:31 a.m., that an unknown bull was in reporting party’s yard.  The bull was picked up and taken to Winnsboro Livestock because the owner could not be located.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to County Road 2373 at approximately 12:38 p.m.  Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 7948 in Winnsboro, at approximately 12:36 p.m., in regards to an animal complaint.  Reporting party believes that a neighbor is using a taser to discipline her dog. The deputy spoke with other witnesses who said they had not seen this occur.  Deputies were unable to contact the dog owner at that time.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966, at approximately 12:45 p.m., on a report that the Yantis Masonic Lodge had an open door and no cars in the parking lot.  The building was checked and secured.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 312 in Winnsboro, at approximately 1:05 p.m.  Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 14/3282, at approximately 1:10 p.m., to assist a motorist with a flat tire.  The subject had already received help and was enroute to purchase a new tire.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 in Yantis, at approximately 1:32 p.m., on a report of a reckless driver.  Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2659, at approximately 1:59 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies secured the building.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 69, at approximately 3:31 p.m., on a report of a reckless driver.  Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 5675 in Alba, at approximately 3:33 p.m., on a reported terroristic threat.  Deputies spoke to the parties involved and one of the parties agreed to leave for the night to prevent further disturbances.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6673 in Mineola, at approximately 3:58 p.m., in reference to shots fired.  The deputy located bullet holes in the residence. After speaking with multiple neighbors in the area, the deputy located, by phone, the shooter who admitted to shooting in that direction during target practice.  He did not realize that there was a residence in that direction and will find a safer location in the future.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Bent Bow Lane in Holly Lake Ranch, at approximately 4:06 p.m., regarding receiving harassing phone calls and texts.  The reporting party was advised to block the number.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 6645 in Mineola, at approximately 6:21 p.m., regarding a suspicious person knocking on the door to ask for a ride.  The subject was located and advised not to return to the residence.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4760 in Winnsboro, at approximately 10:43 p.m., regarding a family disturbance.  One of the family members was found to be in crisis and was transported to the hospital for treatment.

May 31st

  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 37/2142, at approximately 12:21 a.m., in regards to a suspicious person.  The subject was located and was simply out walking.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the Clear Lake Inn in Quitman, at approximately 1:16 a.m., in regards to a suspicious person.  Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Private Road 5553 in Alba, at approximately 7:17 a.m., in regards to an alarm call.  The alarm was for a medical emergency, but the subject refused EMS transport.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4415, at approximately 9:29 a.m., for a missing person report.  The party returned home safely prior to the deputies’ arrival.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 in Winnsboro, at approximately 11:13 a.m., in regards to stray dogs.  The deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the dogs.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2460/County Road 2465, at approximately 12:14 p.m., in regards to found property.  The reporting party had found a wallet, without identification, in the road along with a plastic sack containing drug paraphernalia.  The items were placed in evidence.
  • Deputies received a phone call at approximately 1:25 p.m. regarding property damage at a location on FM 17 in Yantis.  The reporting party stated that he had been notified by neighbors that persons known to him had damaged his fence even after having been given a criminal trespass warning.  This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 514, at approximately 2:49 p.m., on a report of a reckless driver.  Deputies were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2689 in Hawkins, at approximately 4:41 p.m., in regards to a family dispute.  The deputies got permission from the homeowner for the family member to remove his belongings from the residence.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 at FM 515, at approximately 8:46 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver.  The car was located and Peter Joseph Petsche, 32, of Howe, Texas was arrested for an out of county warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to 1799 @ Holbrook Bridge, at approximately 10:51 p.m., in reference to a suspicious person walking into oncoming traffic.  The subject was located and Monica Shafer, 23, of Grand Saline was arrested for an out of county warrant.

June 1st

  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2444 in Mineola, at approximately 2:04 p.m., on a noise complaint.  Upon arrival, the deputies were unable to locate any loud music at the location.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Point at Lake Holbrook, at approximately 2:32 a.m., in reference to a suspicious vehicle.  The subject was waiting on someone to bring bait in order to go fishing.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 778, south of County Road 2678, at approximately 8:43 a.m., in reference to a suspicious person.  The subject was located walking on the road and given a courtesy ride.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 11 in Winnsboro, at approximately 10:08 a.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies spoke with the homeowner and everything was ok.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the boat ramp at Lake Holbrook, at approximately 5:20 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint.  The deputies warned the subjects not to swim off of the boat dock pier.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Hawkins, at approximately 5:33 p.m., in reference to a report of a family member making threats.  The deputies were unable to locate the reporting party.
  • At 5:50 p.m., cows were reported out on County Road 4165.  The deputies made contact with the owner and the cows were secured.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook Beach, at approximately 6:06 p.m., in reference to an alcohol violation.  Deputies warned multiple beachgoers that alcohol was not allowed on the beach.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2117 in Quitman, at approximately 8:41 p.m., in reference to a disturbance.  Parties were involved in a verbal dispute and they were separated by the deputies.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 515, at approximately 9:32 p.m., in reference to a suspicious person.  Deputies were unable to locate the subject.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3270, at approximately 11:07 p.m., in reference to a disturbance.  The reporting party stated that she had been assaulted by a party known to her. Deputies received conflicting statements from the reporting party and witnesses and, since the subject was no longer at the location, cleared the incident.

June 2nd

  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 154 in Winnsboro, at approximately 12:34 a.m., in reference to an aggravated robbery.  Deputies arrived at the location to find a male who had been shot in the neck and who advised that the shooting had taken place on County Road 2502 in Mineola.  The victim was transported by EMS. This case has been forwarded to investigators and an arrest has been made.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 in Quitman, at approximately 8:06 a.m., in reference to a fraud.  The reporting party stated that he had received 4 counterfeit one hundred dollar bills from a tenant paying rent.  This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2234 in Mineola, at approximately 8:08 a.m., in reference to suspicious persons.  Deputies located the subjects who were trying to earn extra money by mowing yards.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 312, 1 mile north of E. Highway 154, at approximately 8:39 a.m., in reference to a cow who had been hit by a car.  The owner was contacted and removed the cow.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 in Quitman, at approximately 10:41 a.m., in reference to an alarm.  The deputies spoke with the homeowners and everything was okay.
  • Deputies contacted reporting party by telephone at approximately 11:27 a.m. in reference to a theft.  The party reported that she had been missing some items from her home, but had not reported them stolen until a neighbor contacted her with information as to who might be responsible.  This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4530 in Winnsboro, at approximately 2:02 p.m., regarding shots fired.  Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate anyone firing a gun.
  • Deputies were notified by a Tyler hospital of a dog bite victim who lives on County Road 3812 in Hawkins.  Deputies were unable to locate the victim either at the residence or by phone.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3420 in Hawkins, at approximately 4:01 p.m., in reference to a homeowner finding broken windows in her home.  The deputies made entry for the homeowner and everything was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1840 in Yantis, at approximately 4:38 p.m., in reference to a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle was not located, but the reporting party requested extra patrol in the area.
  • At 6:50 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 1647, 3 miles south of Highway 11.  
  • At 6:55 p.m., a caller reported an animal in the roadway on Highway 80, west of the Mineola city limits.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2920 in Golden, at approximately 7:00 p.m., on a disturbance.  The reporting party stated that a pair of pliers was thrown at her, striking her in the leg and causing bruising.  Due to conflicting statements and the fact that the reporting party had been involved in a physical altercation a few days prior, the parties were told that this case would be forwarded to investigations.  One of the parties, Gerri Rachelle Butler, 44, of Golden had an outstanding warrant for Driving While License Invalid and was arrested.
  • Deputies were dispatched to the 515 bridge before 17, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in reference to teens jumping off of the bridge.  Deputies arrived and the subjects dispersed.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Greenbriar Cove in Holly Lake Ranch, at approximately 8:45 p.m., in reference to a family disturbance.  Zoe Nicole Armock, 18, of Holly Lake Ranch was arrested for Assault Causes bodily Injury Family/Household Member by Impeding Breathing/Air Circulation.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 17, at approximately 10:41 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies secured the residence.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2503 in Mineola, at approximately 10:47 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief.  The reporting party stated that a person known to him had damaged the interior of his vehicle. The case will be forwarded to investigators.  
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Holbrook, at approximately 10:46 p.m., in reference to a dispute.  Multiple callers had reported loud music. Deputies contacted the subjects and asked them to turn off the music.

June 3rd

  • Deputies were dispatched to 17N at the Paradise Boat Storage, at approximately 3:11 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances.  The door of one of the storage units was standing open. Deputies determined that the unit was simply empty, not burglarized.
  • Deputies made contact by phone with the reporting party who stated that he had paid an individual, known to him, to build a boathouse at County Road 1445 in Quitman.  The subject began, but did not finish the job and admitted to the reporting party that he spent the money elsewhere. This case has been forwarded to investigations.
  • Deputies made contact by phone with the reporting party who stated that she had paid an individual to do mechanic work on her 18 wheeler.  The subject took the money, but did not perform the work. This case has been forwarded to investigations.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 69N in Quitman, at approximately 12:54 p.m., regarding a terroristic threat.  The reporting party stated that her ex-husband pulled up next to her in her vehicle and pointed a gun at her, threatening to kill her.  Deputies were unable to locate the subject. This case has been forwarded to investigations.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 17, south of 515 South, at approximately 1:42 p.m. regarding a reckless driver.  Deputies searched, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to 515/4990, at approximately 2:07 p.m., in reference to assisting a motorist.  Deputies located the vehicle which had been driven off of the roadway and called roadside assistance for the driver.
  • Deputies were dispatched to 154 southbound toward Quitman, at approximately 4:09 p.m. regarding a reckless driver.  Deputies searched, but were unable to locate the vehicle.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3900 in Hawkins, at approximately 5:46 p.m., in reference to a dispute.  Deputies responded and cleared the incident as a verbal disagreement.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1513 in Alba, at approximately 8:01 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass.  Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2220 in Mineola, at approximately 8:10 p.m., in reference to a Facebook account being hacked.  Deputies advised to contact Facebook and delete the account.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to FM 312, at approximately 9:52 p.m.  The subject was arrested for the outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 312, 3 miles south of Winnsboro, at approximately 11:00 p.m., in reference to a traffic hazard. Deputies removed the hazard and cleared the incident.

June 4th

  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2317 in Mineola, at approximately 4:31 a.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies secured the residence.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1515 in Alba, at approximately 7:33 a.m., in reference to a criminal trespass.  The homeowners were advised to post some no trespassing signs on the property.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2659 in Hawkins, at approximately 11:15 a.m., in reference to actors unknown trying to kick in their door.  Homeowners requested extra patrol in the area.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 1388 in Yantis, at approximately 11:26 a.m., in reference to actors unknown making a u-turn in the yard.  There was no damage to the yard.
  • Deputies made contact by phone with the reporting party who stated that she had paid an individual to cut down 4 trees on her property located on County Road 2434 in Mineola.  The subject took the money, but only cut down 3 trees. The reporting party wishes to press charges. This case has been forwarded to investigations.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869, at approximately 12:32 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies spoke with the homeowner and everything was ok.
  • Deputies were dispatched to U.S. 80 in Mineola, at approximately 2:55 p.m., in reference to theft of services.  Reporting party stated that a customer picked up his truck that had been repaired without paying for the services.  This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Greenbriar Trail in Hawkins, at approximately 3:36 p.m., in reference to an assault.  The reporting party did not wish to pursue charges and left the residence to prevent any future disputes.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Highway 69, at approximately 5:14 p.m., in reference to an animal complaint.  Reporting party stated that, as he was riding his bike, a large dog came out onto the road and knocked him over causing him to scrape his knee.  The dog did not attack him, but he requested that a report be made.
  • Deputies were dispatched to 515, 1 mile west of the hospital, at approximately 5:46 p.m., in reference to a traffic hazard. Deputies removed the hazard and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 2302 in Mineola, at approximately 5:58 p.m., in reference to a burglary.  This turned out to be a family dispute over property. Deputies cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 4558 in Winnsboro, at approximately 6:02 p.m., in reference to an alarm.  Deputies spoke with the homeowner and the residence was secure.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to County Road 2482 in Mineola, at approximately 7:22 p.m.  David William Wilson, 41, of Mineola was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to County Road 3473 in Hawkins, at approximately 10:32 p.m., in reference to a dispute between campers at Lake Hawkins.  A courtesy ride was given to one of the parties and deputies cleared the incident.

Between the dates of May 29th to June 4th, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Mineola Police Department, Hawkins Police Department, Quitman Police Department, Department of Public Safety, Child Protective Services and UT Medical Center Quitman.
