Wildcats Track Team Qualified Six For Regional Meet In Seven Events, Finishes Sixth at Area Meet

The Wildcats’ track team finished sixth at the Area Track Meet getting 53 points Thursday, April 18, at Longview Pine Tree.

The Wildcats had six athletes qualify for the regional track meet in seven events and two others earned alternate status for regional.

Nabian Ramirez qualified with a third place finish in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:03.948.

Landon Thornton qualified with second place finishes in both the 1600-meter run and the 3200-meter run. Thornton was timed at 4:43.803 in the 1600 and 10:08.640 in the 3200.

Landry Tyson qualified with a fourth place finish in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.772.

Ryan Hammons qualified with a third place in the shot put with a toss of 44-feet, 8 ¼ inches.

Jeremiah Roland qualified with a third place finish in high jump jumping 6′ 2”.

Eli Sellers qualified in the pole vault finishing second with a height of 13′ 6”.

Athletes earning alternate status with fifth place finishes were Tyson in the 300-meter hurdles and Christian Palomino in the 3200-meter run.

Other Wildcats results included Ricardo Torres seventh in the 400-meter dash, Damiyon Dugan seventh in the long jump and seventh in the triple jump and Tyson sixth in the high jump.

The Wildcats 4×400-meter relay team finished eighth. Relay team members are Sellers, Ramirez, Torres and Tyson.

The Regional Track Meet takes place in Arlington on April 26-27.
