Coach Carrillo on Lady Cats 4-0 Win Over Greenville

Needless to say, Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carroll was very pleased with his freshman pitcher Addison Caddell who threw a 2-hit shutout and struck out 12 in a 4-0 win over Greenville at Lady Cat Park Thursday afternoon (March 21). Coach Carrillo also gave credit to Assistant Coach Bailey Dorner who called the pitches in the game. Coach Carrillo said Caddell has a really good mound presence that is hard to get from a freshman. He said the Lady Cats struggled some on offense. Coach Carrillo said Greenville pitcher Katie Shaw always pitches well at Lady Cat Park. He said the Lady Cats can hit the ball harder than they did Thursday. Coach Carrillo said despite the struggles, the Lady Cats got the job done. They had 4 runs and 8 hits. Brinklee Drive hit a home run. Coach Carrillo said he was proud of Driver because she wasn’t feeling well. He said he offered to put someone else in for her but she said she wanted to play. She ended up with two hits. The Lady Cats got two big insurance runs in the fifth inning. Coach Carrillo that made him breathe easier. He said at 2-0 anything can happened adding he felt more comfortable at 4-0, especially with the way Caddell was pitching. Obviously he likes the 2-0 start for the Lady Cats. Coach Carrillo said he told his team opponents will be coming after them as defending district champions. The next two Lady Cats games are on the road: at Lindale Tuesday and at Mount Pleasant next Friday.
