Basketball Game Day: Wildcats at Royse City

The #4 ranked Wildcats’ basketball team continues district play on this Friday game day (February 8) at Royse City. There will be a freshman game at 5 p.m. A JV contest is scheduled at 6:15 p.m. The varsity game will follow at around 7:30 p.m. The Wildcats are district champs with an 8-0 record after their come from behind win at Texas High Tuesday night. The Wildcats are 22-8 for the season. Royse City is in a battle for the district’s last two playoffs spots with Lindale and Mount Pleasant.

After the big emotional win at Texas High, one might wonder if the Wildcats might have less intensity in the Royse City contest Friday. Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta says the Wildcats don’t intend to let up Friday at Royse City or next Tuesday at Lindale. He says they will try and win their final two district games to get ready for the playoffs. One of the team’s season goals is to go 10-0 in district play. Coach Cipoletta says he talked with the team at practice Wednesday and told them not to be satisfied. He says the season goal was not just to win the district championship but to go 10-0. He compares the Wildcats season to writing a story. He says it’s turned out good so far but he wants the team to keep writing the story. Coach Cipoletta says the team has plans to make the story end in a very special way.
