Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta said one of his points of emphasis for the Greenville game last Friday was for his team to come out focused from the start of the game. On KSST Radio and Cable Channel 18’s Saturday Morning Coaches Show, Coach Cipoletta said his team did just that on their way to a 75-42 win at Greenville Friday night.
Coach Cipoletta said the Wildcats had ten straight stops to start the game against the Lions. Sophomore Cameron Kahn led the Wildcats with 16 points. Coach Cipoletta called Kahn a special talent and he said Kahn scored 16 straight points during the fourth quarter. All of the Wildcats on the roster got to play against Greenville. Coach Cipoletta said it warmed his heart to see his starters cheering on the bench players when the reserves were on the floor.
The Wildcats have already clinched the district’s number one seed in the playoffs. They could still end up in a co-championship with Mount Pleasant if the Wildcats slip up and lose against Hallsville Tuesday night. A victory against the Bobcats could produce a district championship for the Wildcats, something that has not happened in Sulphur Springs for several decades.
Tuesday is also Senior Night. Honored will be Dedric Godbolt, Bryson Lynn, Iverson Wade and I’vyn Clayton.
Coach Cipoletta said a possible bi-district opponent for them will be determined Tuesday night as Lovejoy plays West Mesquite. The Wildcats will play the winner. Coach Cipoletta said our region in the playoffs will present challenges for the Wildcats in every round.
