Funeral services for James “Willie” Carroll, age 64 of Como will be held at 4:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 22, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Bro. Travis Baxley officiating. Interment will follow at Como Cemetery with Richard Brown, Anthony Harrington, Jesse McFarland, Anthony Shadix, Rodney Taylor, Corey Robinson, Kasey Benson and John Joiner serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 2015 at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home.
James “Willie” passed away on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Sunny Springs Nursing Home.
He was born on September 21, 1951, the son of Forrest W. and Mary Jo (Clark) Carroll in Sulphur Springs. He married Rhonda Gail Cotten on March 7, 1980 in Sulphur Springs. She survives.
He was a welder and a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church of Como.
Survivors include his son, James Anthony Gates and wife, Audrey of Runaway Bay; daughters, Christy Welch and husband, William of Saltillo and Crystal Garcia and husband, Rick of Lindale; grandchildren, Nicole Welch, Alex Gates, Ashley Gates, Destiny Welch, Danielle Welch, DezaRay White, James Ray Welch; great-grandchildren, Liam, Lyric, Echo, Lane and one on the way; sisters, Virginia Massey of Sulphur Springs and Teresa Robinson of Oklahoma.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
