SimsFuneral services for Charlie Thomas Sims, age 86, of Sulphur Springs will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Harold B. Nash officiating.  Military graveside honors by the Hopkins County Military Coalition will follow at East Caney Cemetery with Cory Sims, Harry Sims, Cary Horton, Danny Sims, Damon Dugan, Chris Harris, Cody Williams and Cory Spigner serving as pallbearers.  There will be no formal visitation.

Mr. Sims passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his residence.  He was born on August 24, 1929 in Hopkins County the son of Carter Sims, Sr., and Allie Washington Sims.  He married Ada M. Malone in the spring of 1983 in Sulphur Springs.  She survives.  Mr. Sims was a mechanic for Rockwell International before he retired.  Mr. Sims served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.  He was a member of Morning Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Nan Harris and husband Robert of Sulphur Springs, brother, Carter Sims, Jr., of Sulphur Springs, sisters, Arlene Williams and Peggy White both of Sulphur Springs, grandchildren, Lanetta Sims, Vincent Sims and wife Felicia, great-grandchildren, Joseph Washington, Kieron Sims and Keziah Sims, with a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Bobby Sims, James Sims, Arvis Sims and N. W. Sims, sisters, Darlene Horton, Vada Alexander and Omergine Sims.

Arrangements are under the direction of West Oaks Funeral Home.
