Ryan Cade Prewitt

Ryan Cade Prewitt of Mount Vernon, Texas, passed away unexpectedly in Wylie, Texas, on Wednesday, May 14, 2026, at the very young age of 24.

Ryan was born on April 12, 2002, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to Keith Prewitt and Debra Louise Saxon.

Ryan loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time hunting and fishing. He often spent time with his brother, Luke, whom he looked up to very much, shooting guns and doing target practice. He was always excited to help his daughter, Lynn, with her trap shooting. You could also find him playing his PlayStation games, and his son, Griffin, greatly enjoyed this about him. Most of all, he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends. He enjoyed many weekend adventures with his wife and kids, whom he admired and loved.

Ryan held a special bond with Devin. Growing up, you didn’t see one without the other. Their connection stayed strong even into adulthood. He felt blessed to have such an amazing best friend as Devin.

Ryan was known for his calm spirit, his kind heart, amazing work ethic, and the way he always showed up for the people he loved. Many of these qualities were inherited from his mother, Debra, whom he loved dearly.

Ryan was employed in the sanitation department at Eco Waste Solutions. He took great pride in his work and made many friends he considered family.

He was preceded in death by his aunt, Jeni Burgette.

Ryan is survived by his wife, Kandace Holmes; his children, Lynn Preston and Griffin Tucker; his mother, Debra Saxon; his father, Keith Prewitt; his brothers, Daniel Luke Saxon and Brant Prewitt; his best friend, who was like a brother, Devin Pullen; his grandmother, Thirza Burgette; his uncles, Mose Burgette and Daniel Jeager; his aunts, Beth Bays, Tammy Tippit, Mary Barker Spencer, and Carolyn Burgin; and his cousins, Justin Tippit and Joe Tippit. Samantha Minick was like a second mom to Ryan.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, May 23, 2025, at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home at 3:00 p.m.
