The Wildcats’ basketball team hung with district leading Marshall in the first quarter on the road Friday night. The Wildcats trailed only 23-20. It got ugly after that as Marshall took an 89-53 win. Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta was disappointed in his team’s 53-48 loss at Pine Tree Friday night, but he was pleasantly surprised by the scoring boost his team got from two players. Mason Buck had 14 points and Garrett Jones had 13 as both guards hit three three-pointers. The Wildcats, now 2-3 in district, host Longview Tuesday.

The Lady Cats’ basketball team couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night and too many turnovers as Pine Tree got a 41-32 win at Wildcats Gym Friday. Daieyshia Pruitt led the Lady Cats with 14 points. The Wildcats’ basketball team combined stifling defense with the offense of Jaylon Dugan and Cain Cody to win their second straight district game, 43-38 over Hallsville in Wildcats Gym Tuesday night. The Wildcats held the Bobcats to 14 second half points. Jaylon Dugan had a game high 23 points and Cain Cody chipped in 16. The Wildcats are 2-2 in district and 7-14 overall. They travel to Pine Tree Friday night.

Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta said his team played hard and played together to defeat Greenville Friday night. He said the emphasis on defense paid off in the 45-33 win. The Wildcats are now 1-2 in district and 6-14 overall. This week the Wildcats play host to Hallsville Tuesday night at 7:30 p.m. and then will travel to Pine Tree Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

The Wildcats’ basketball team suffered from too many turnovers as Mt. Pleasant took a 71-46 victory in Mt. Pleasant Tuesday night. The Tigers led by just 6 points, 18-12 after the first quarter but built a 13-point lead, 36-23 at the half. The loss drops the Wildcats to 0-2 in district play and 5-14 for the season. The Wildcats will play host to the Greenville Lions Friday night in Wildcats Gym.
