Local Bartender Arrested for Sexual Assualt

A 32-year old Sulphur Springs man, a bartender at Dean’s Kitchen on Industrial Drive, was charged with the sexual assault of an 18-year old Sulphur Springs woman who felt she was drugged. Oscar David Ramirez was charged with sexual assault just after 6 a.m. Thursday. JP Ronny Glossup set bond at $50,000. Sulphur Springs Police Detective Lt. The Wildcats’ team tennis squad went to 0-2 in district play after a 15-4 loss against Hallsville on the road Tuesday. The Sulphur Springs City Council passed several budget related ordinances on first reading during a regular meeting Tuesday night. The Lady Cats’ volleyball team won a second set to tie their match with Mt. Vernon, 1-1 last Thursday night at home. Hopkins County Judge Robert Newsom says so far this year, the county has spent $209,000 to house inmates in jails outside the county.
