Sign-ups for the annual Blue Santa/Empty Stocking Toy Program has begun. Families with children in Hopkins County needing a little extra help this year can register for toys from now until Monday, November 28 at CANHelp, located at 613 Gilmer Street during normal business hours. Blue Santa Collection Continues Tuesday
Locally Blue Santa is having a major cash and toy collection in the Wal-Mart parking lot. The two-day event continues Tuesday from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. They are selling barbeque lunches for $5. Sulphur Springs Police Chief Jay Sanders says they expect to provide toys for 1400 children this year. Blue Santa is hoping to raise $33,000 and collect lots of toys and 160 bicycles.

Distribution day for Empty Stocking, Angel Tree and Blue Santa toys will take place this Saturday at First United Methodist Church from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. Last minute toy donations can be delivered to any of the forty blue barrels around town or taken to the Sulphur Springs Police Department or Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office. Deadline for drop off is Friday at 5 p.m.
