The renovation of one end of Old City Hall is moving along rapidly. The city business office will return once the work is completed and the police station will double in size as space formerly used for city management will become space for the Sulphur Springs Police Emergency Management and office for detectives. City Director of Finance Peter Karstens is overseeing the project and he gave me and videographer Doug Hasten a tour Monday morning.

Walls are being textured, bathrooms are now ADA accessable, and new office space for city finance are also being prepared. In the next three weeks, the texturing, painting and hanging ceilings will be completed along with new light fixtures.  The renovation will allow for a more open look to work areas for employees.

Karstens said he hoped to see the work completed in July and would be addressing the city council in the summer seeking to renovate the remainder of the building. He stated that the work is on schedule.
