…And Three More Ms. Sr. Contestants Make Nine!

CONTESTANTS LINDA PICKLE-HILL, PATSY CRIST AND ELIZABETH WILBURN.
The field of contestants for the title of Ms. Hopkins County Senior is now nine, and you can meet them at the pageant on Saturday June 10 at 6 pm in the Family Life Center of League Street Church of Christ. Admission is free, so be sure and bring your family and friends. During today’s Morning Show interview , we met Linda Pickle-Hill who is making her second run at the title, having been named Best Talent in the 2016 contest. She will do a patriotic reading. Patsy Crist of Cumby is a 30 year resident of Hopkins County and decided to enter the pageant because she loves people and her community. She will perform an “I Love Lucy” skit. Elizabeth Wilburn has been married to her husband Steve for 50 years and has raised her children and grandchildren here as well. She will do a reading dedicated to a former pastor. Each of the ladies expressed that a Ms. Senior pageant is a good opportunity for mature women since the later years of life often provide more time to re-focus personal talents and resources into worthy causes and helpful, satisfying activities.
These three contestants will join the other six to compete in talent, evening gown and judge’s interview. The top scoring contestants will be named First and Second Runners-up and 2017 Ms. Hopkins County Senior. Other awards will be made for Most Talented, Best Interview, Best Evening Gown, Miss Congeniality and Best Philosophy of Life. Winners will be posted on ksstradio.com/

Lady Cats Softball Camps Underway at Multipurpose Building
Lady Cats Softball Coach David Carrillo and his staff were greeted Tuesday afternoon in the Multipurpose Building by eighteen eager girls who will be entering the first through the fifth grades for day one of a three-day softball camp. Coach Carrillo said the girls were enthusiastic and showed up ready to learn.
He said the Multipurpose Building was a great place for camp. Coach Carrillo said he could tell some of the girls had played some softball before. As with all camps, the focus is on fundamentals. The girls fielded balls, made some throws and ran bases Tuesday. Coach Carrillo said there would be more hitting Wednesday afternoon. A second session Tuesday was designed for girls entering the sixth through the ninth grades. Coach Carrillo is being helped at this camp by softball assistant coaches Kevin Tanton and Chris Valdovinos.
Coach Carrillo said this camp was his eighteenth as a softball coach. His memory of his first camp in Sulphur Springs in 2006 is a painful one. He took a foul ball to the face during a batting drill. In typical Coach Carrillo fashion, he managed to keep a smile on his face.
