4th Annual Pack The Bus School Supply Drive
All Hopkins County Schools will find benefit from the 4th Annual Pack the Bus, a school supply drive, sponsored by CANHelp, 613 Gilmer Street. The drop-off of school supplies is Friday, August 8th from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. Donations will also be received by CANHelp during regular business hours any other day. Adam Teer, Executive Director of CANHelp says cash donations will be used to purchase backpacks for students. Backpacks are the largest expense for school supplies. Brashear Baptist Church will be having its’ second annual 4th of July Celebration Friday. Activities in and around the Family Life Center get underway at 6 p.m. There is no cost to attend. Hamburgers and hot dogs will be served. There will be activities for children and adults alike. Psalm 100 and others will sing Gospel music. The evening will end with fireworks. The Hopkins County 4H kids from four chapters invited to Tuesday’s (July 1st) Day Camp at Heritage Park were promised crafts and games, a step back in time. The 4her’s tried their hands at tin punch, making butter, woodworking and the centuries old art of paper decorating called quilling. The second annual Tomato Festival will take place at the Celebration Market Saturday evening, July 5th on the Plaza. Those who bring three samples can have tomatoes judged in pear, cherry and large categories.
