28 Teams battled it out for 9 Hours on Saturday, June 30th at the Sulphur Springs Senior Citizens Center. Winners were: 1st Place: Bill Burks and Gene Bennett 2nd Place: Trey Newsome and Matt Gerdes 3rd Place: Tom Holloway and Jeanette Bray 4th Place: John Fee and B. W. Pinky Cooper is a homeowner in the Mahoney area of Hopkins County. Her house and property on CR 3504 received extensive damage in Tuesday evening’s thunderstorm that crossed central Hopkins County. The City of Sulphur Springs did not cut the show short. Pyrotecnico was completely in charge of the entire fireworks display. Although numerous Hopkins County locations have been cited with a “subject marker” for historical importance, only two locations can boast a Recorded Texas Historical Landmark. The most recent is the 333 College Street colonial home now owned by Montie and Vivian Monzingo.
