Sulphur Springs School Board Meets Monday on our Tax Rate

The Sulphur Springs School Board will conduct a public hearing on the tax rate for the budget for this school year at a special meeting Monday at 6 p.m. in the Board Room at the Admin Building. The tax rate is $1.35 cents per $100 valuation, same as last year. The board is also expected to adopt the budget for next school year. Classes get underway Tuesday. Workers doing dirt work for the new Hopkins County Jail project north of the current jail unearthed a surprise recently. They found what appears to be a railroad spur that had been buried. County Judge Robert Newsom says it shouldn’t raise any environmental issues. He can’t find any records for the spur.
