The Saltillo Lions and Lady Lions participated in the Ferrel Wright Relays at Alba Golden last Thursday. For the Lions, Trevor Moore was first in the 800-meters, fourth in the 400-meters, sixth in the high jump and was a part of the Lions’ 4 X 400-meter relay team that finished third. Hendrick Rios was first in the 1600-meter run, sixth in the 400-meter run and was also part of the third place 4 X 400-meter relay team. Matthew Gurley was third in triple jump, third in long jump, fifth in the 200-meter dash and was also part of the Lions’ third place 4 X 400-meter relay team. Ben Moore was fourth in the 110-meter hurdles, fourth in the 300-meter hurdles and fifth in the long jump. Edi Olayo was fifth in the 100-meter dash and was also a part of the Lions 4 X 400-meter relay team that finished third. Levi Hoover and Chris Boekhorst also participated along with Lady Lions Chandler Bain, Kristina Wade, Olfelia Cabrera and Danielle Ross.
In Saltillo baseball, the Lions dropped a game at Sulphur Bluff, 20-3 last Friday. The Lions scored all three of their runs in the third inning. For the Lions, Erik Heukels had a walk and scored a run. Matthew Gurley was 1 for 2 with a double and he scored a run. Michael Clover was 2 for 2, Michael Simmons was 2 for 2 with a double. Dylan Beadle was 1 for 2. Stephen Marroquin was 1 for 2 Edi Olayo was hit by a pitch and he scored a run. The Lions are 0-4 so far this season.
