January 3rd

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on Sioux near Quitman; at approximately 12:26 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 5:41 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154/FM 2225 near Quitman, at approximately 5:44 a.m. Billie Roberson, 40, of Hawkins, was arrested for Driving While License Invalid.

At 7:48 a.m., horses were reported out on CR 2351 near Mineola.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 3859/CR 3870 near Hawkins; at approximately 3:25 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:07 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on CR 3879 near Mineola. Actors, or actors unknown, stole the reporting party’s wallet. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies responded to a reckless driving call on HWY 154/CR 1215 near Yantis; at approximately 4:38 p.m. Michelle Chase, 31, of Hawkins, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated.

At 5:16 p.m., cows were reported out on Loop 564 near Mineola.

At 5:59 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 778 near Hawkins.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 37 near Quitman; at approximately 7:38 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Quitman, at approximately 8:32 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

At 10:30 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 69 near Alba.

Deputies were dispatched to White Dove near Quitman, at approximately 11:51 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. John Payne, 47, of Quitman, was arrested for Assault Causes Bodily Injury.

January 4th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1297 near Yantis, at approximately 1:00 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2378 near Alba, at approximately 1:44 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:15 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A female, 63, was found deceased in her residence. The Justice of the Peace arrived and ordered an autopsy. This case has been forwarded to other agency.

At 1:16 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 779 near Alba.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2435 near Mineola, at approximately 2:49 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2460 near Mineola, at approximately 4:09 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. This case is active.

At 4:23 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 3854 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 4:57 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded o other agency.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3270 near Quitman, at approximately 6:43 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3920 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:13 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies located the parties involved in the dispute and cleared the scene.

January 5th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 5:01 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1750 near Yantis, at approximately 11:24 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. Rolland Souter, 57, of Yantis, was arrested for Assault by Contact.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2958 near Alba, at approximately 3:37 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1686 near Alba, at approximately 4:29 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies located the parties involved in the dispute and cleared the scene.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:35 p.m., in reference to a theft that occurred on Waterfront Row near Quitman. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a firearm from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

At 5:04 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 80 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 49 near Mineola, at approximately 5:04 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 778 near Quitman, at approximately 5:52 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and the owner of the property had the vehicle towed by Joe’s Wrecker.

Deputies were dispatched to Broken Bow near Quitman, at approximately 5:57 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies located the suspicious activity and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 8:31 p.m. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1214 near Quitman, at approximately 9:01 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1236 near Quitman, at approximately 9:26 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

At 10:21 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4250/CR 4249 near Winnsboro.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 10:34 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

At 11:32 p.m., cows were reported out on R 4255 near Winnsboro.

January 6th

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2377 near Mineola, at approximately 5:46 a.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies noticed a door to be ajar, but no signs of entry or theft.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 5935 near Yantis, at approximately 8:43 a.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2225 near Quitman, at approximately 2:14 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a laptop from the reporting party’s office. This case is active.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on PR 8692 near Winnsboro; at approximately 2:36 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2700 near Mineola; at approximately 5:20 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies were dispatched to Hwy 37 near Mineola, at approximately 7:15 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle at Lake Holbrook Point, at approximately 7:43 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies were dispatched to Coke Rd. in Winnsboro, at approximately 8:48 p.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 78, died in the Winnsboro Emergency Room. The Justice of the Peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3810 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:00 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2263 near Mineola, at approximately 10:56 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Ashley Shipman, 27, of Mineola, was arrested for Assault.

January 7th

Deputies were dispatched to Blackburn St. in Hawkins, at approximately 12:45 a.m., to assist Hawkins Police Department with a disturbance. Brandon Harpole, 24, of Big Sandy, was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 17 near Alba, at approximately 6:08 a.m. Donald Bean, 35, of Mineola, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 7:10 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 1210 near Quitman; at approximately 8:22 a.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on CR 4200 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:13 a.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious person on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 10:59 a.m. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2298 near Mineola; at approximately 3:25 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:13 p.m., in reference to phone harassment. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 1795 near Hawkins, at approximately 5:28 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 4495 near Winnsboro, at approximately 6:19 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the actor.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 2869 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:52 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2696 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:30 p.m. Bart Eason, 58, of Hawkins, was arrested for an outstanding warrant and Possession of Marijuana.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3144 near Quitman; at approximately 9:32 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to PR 7687 near Hawkins, at approximately 10:11 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Dylan Himes, 20, of Hawkins, was arrested for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Assault Causes Bodily Injury Family Violence.

January 8th

Deputies were dispatched to FM 312 near Winnsboro, at approximately 12:43 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3870 near Hawkins, at approximately 7:38 a.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

At 9:04 a.m., cows were reported out on CR 4250/CR 4255 near Winnsboro.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:12 a.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on CR 2444 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.

Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:51 a.m., in reference to harassment that occurred on CR 2153 near Quitman. This case has been forwarded to investigators.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 3900 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:45 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

At 4:26 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 2088 near Quitman.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 69 near Quitman, at approximately 6:56 p.m., in reference to a burglary. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged property and stole money from the reporting party’s residence. This case is active.

Deputies were dispatched to 2170 near Quitman, at approximately 10:25 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.

January 9th

At 5:58 a.m., horses were reported out on FM 49 near Hawkins.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2436 near Mineola, at approximately 7:57 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 79, of Mineola, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 1901 near Yantis, at approximately 1:39 p.m., in reference to an abandoned vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to Bermuda St. in Quitman; at approximately 2:14 p.m. Bryan Barnett, 36,of Hawkins, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.

Deputies were dispatched to Holiday Village Club House, at approximately 3:01 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies issued a Criminal Trespass Warning.

Deputies were dispatched to CR 2268 near Mineola, at approximately 9:36 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Parties were separated for the night.

Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 9:40 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.

Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 14/FM 2869 near Hawkins; at approximately 10:40 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.

Between the dates of January 3 and January 9, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Police Departments, Emergency Medical Services, Child Protective Services, and Department of Public Safety.

Between the dates of January 3 and January 9, Wood County Sheriff’s Investigators filed 5 cases with the District Attorney, obtained 3 arrest warrants and arrested the individuals, and recovered $100 worth of stolen property.

Total Jail Count – 145 inmates – 125 males and 20 females.
