Graveside Service for Carlos Ray Barela, age 69 of Sulphur Springs, Texas will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, May 18, 2026, at Midway Cemetery in Talco, Texas. Visitation will be held Monday, May 18, 2026, from 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at Tapp Funeral Home. Mr. Barela passed away on Wednesday, at Christus Mother Frances Hospital in Sulphur Springs, Texas.
Carlos Barela was born October 31, 1956, in El Paso, Texas to Carlos Ray Barela and Jospehine (Swafford) Easley Dillon. Carlos married Becky Mitchell on June 25, 1976, in Talco, Texas.
Carlos was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed fishing and tending to his goat herd on his farm. He loved restoring vehicles. When not working, Carlos enjoyed spending time with friends, drinking coffee at the Metro Diner and playing cards. He loved spending time with his family, especially his grandkids. Carlos also enjoyed watching old westerns on TV in his spare time. Carlos attended Emanual Baptist Church.
Carlos is survived by the mother of his children, Becky Barela, his daughters, Elisha Barela and Jessica Torres, both of Sulphur Springs, Texas. Six grandchildren and four great grandchildren; brothers, Manuel Jose Barela, Robert Leroy Easley, Alfred Lee Easley; sisters, Margaret Morgan, Cathy Sue Anderson and Mary Elizabeth Barela.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carlos Ray Barela and Josephine (Swafford) Easley Dillon; brother, Albert Easley Jr.,
