Sulphur Springs
Memorial service for Nita Cason, age 88, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at First Baptist Church – Spence Chapel in Sulphur Springs. Visitation with refreshments will be held at 11:30 – 1:00 at First Baptist Church prior to the service. Mrs. Cason passed away at Rock Creek Health and Rehab on December 24, 2025.
Anita K. Cason was born on December 18, 1937, to Annie and Oscar Kerr in Sulphur Springs, Texas. She grew up in Sulphur Springs, moving to Dallas for her senior year, graduating from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1955. Nita met Nolan Cason while working at Mobil Oil Corp in Dallas. They married on August 11, 1966. She retired from Mobil in 1989. At that time, she and Nolan relocated back to Sulphur Springs, where they lived until death. Nita worked for First American Bank before retiring again. She loved to volunteer at the Hopkins County Memorial Hospital and with the Make-A-Wish program. She was part of the Pilot Club and was a proud member of the First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter, Mitzi Y’Barbo, and her husband, Hank; Grandsons, Matthew, his wife Morgan, and their sons Lincoln, and Alder, Mason Y’Barbo, his fiancée, Michelle, Allison, and Aislinn. Also survived by son Joe Dan and wife Shawn. Their daughter Breanna, husband Brandon, sons Brayden and Nolan; son Kaleb, wife Ashton, children Wyatt and Presleigh; Daughter Haley.
Nita was preceded in death by parents, Annie and Oscar Kerr, and her beloved husband Nolan.
