January 27, 2026 – The Sulphur Springs ISD issued a Facebook announcement Tuesday afternoon:
“Due to the conditions of rural roads, campus parking lots, sidewalks, and the predicted freezing fog tomorrow morning, we have made the decision to remain closed on Wednesday, January 28. All after-school activities and events will be rescheduled.
The safety of our students, staff, and families is always our top priority. Thank you for your understanding, and please stay safe and warm.”
Earlier, the school district announced: “We are closely monitoring road conditions today, with special attention to our rural and less traveled roads.”
The Wildcats and Ladycats basketball games that had been postponed from Tuesday night to Wednesday afternoon have again been postponed until Thursday afternoon. The Wildcats will play Texarkana Pleasant Grove at 4:30 Thursday at home. The Ladycats play at Pleasant Grove at 4:30 Thursday in Texarkana.
