Monday had Lady Cats golf in their second competition of the spring season in Mount Pleasant.

Coach Whitney Spigener’s team placed second. Sulphur Springs as a team compiled 375 points.

“This is probably the best tournament I’ve had team-wise in a long time,” Coach Whitney Spigener said about her team’s performance following the win Tuesday.

“They really stepped it up,” the Lady Cats golf coach said.

The second place finish was good enough for the Lady Cats to finish just 11 strokes behind Longview, the favorite to win district.

Allison Thomas shot 90 in Mount Pleasant, a 26-stroke improvement over her first outing in Rockwall on Valentine’s Day. Thomas finished third at the competition.

Kenzie Posey shot 91, finishing just behind Thomas in fourth.

Two Lady Cats shot 93: Mykylie Meador and McKenna Meskimen. Brylie Brock finished with 98 in Mount Pleasant.

Rounding out women’s golf from their Monday competition is Autumn Allen (101) and Ally Crump (121).

“Overall those scores are looking really good,” Coach Spigener said.

The Lady Cats golf coach said those scores are about where they need to be right now. Women’s golf “Still has a little bit of improvement to go before we can look at district,” Coach Spigener said.

Next up, women’s golf are back in action next Monday, Feb. 28 at the Dallas GAC.

Coach Spigener and the Lady Cats take on stiff competition in Dallas-area schools next Monday.
