Bill M McLarry

Bill M McLarry, age 98, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, passed away peacefully on May 27,2026 in Carrollton, Texas. Born on May 19, 1928, in Greenville, Texas, to Ruben Ford McLarry and Delma Montgomery McLarry. He graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1945 and earned his bachelor’s degree in petroleum geology at Texas Tech University in 1949. He married Anna Lou Lamb in 1950 in Marietta, Oklahoma. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, AnnaLou and their son, Robert Alan McLarry.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Ann Bailey; his son-in-law, Kerry Mack Bailey; and three grandchildren, Steven Bailey, Jon Bailey, Leta McLarry Hamilton; six great grandchildren; Taylor Ewing Kirkhart, Alexandra Bailey, Blake Bailey, Cassie Bailey Gonzales, Greyson Hamilton and Graham Hamilton; and, three great-great grandchildren, Thomas Kirkhart, Karter Gonzales and Cash Gonzales. He is survived by his long-time companion, Mary Jo Wood. Bill’s first job after graduation from Texas Tech as a petroleum geologist was with Core Lab. He joined Lion Oil Company’s El Dorado, Arkansas office in1950. In1952, he was transferred to the Abilene, Texas office. Later, he was promoted to district geologist in the Montana district, Rocky Mountain Region in Billings, Montana. In 1958, he joined Kin-Ark Oil Company in their Shreveport, Louisiana office. Bill McLarry’s career as an independent geologist allowed him to work for various companies such as H J Gruy & Associates, an international oil & natural gas consulting group, in Dallas, Texas. Cherished by his family and friends, Bill will be remembered for his deep devotion to those he loved, his kindness, sense of humor, curiosity, and solid character. His caring nature and constant concern for the people around him left an enduring impression on all who knew him. He was the ultimate caregiver. He will be deeply missed.

The family would like to thank everyone at Heritage Hospice and Lifted Hospice for their devotion, care, and support –especially, Derek, aka “Joe.” In addition, the family would also like to thank Grand Brook Memory Care’s aides and nurses for their specialized care during Bill’s stay. Most importantly, the family thanks Angela Young, caregiver, for her nearly four years of devotion, coordination of care and friendship to “Daddy Bill.”

Funeral Service for Bill will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at West Oaks Funeral Home with Bro Oscar Aguilar officiating. Interment will follow the service at Weaver Cemetery.
