June 19, 1942 ~ April 14, 2026 (age 83)
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Lynn Ferguson, a beloved sister, aunt, and cherished friend to many, who departed this world peacefully on April 14, 2026, at the age of 83, at Hopkins Court Assisted Living. Mary was born on June 19, 1942, in the warm embrace of Sulphur Springs, Texas, to her loving parents Chester and Mary McKeever. She was a beacon of light and kindness, whose presence will be deeply missed. Mary was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Johnny Ferguson, whom she married on September 22, 1962, and with whom she shared a beautiful life until his passing, as well as her parents, Chester and Mary McKeever, and her brother, Donald McKeever.
Her legacy, however, continues through her cherished family members: her sisters-in-law Bonny Callan (George) of Mesquite and Ruby Long of Ft. Worth; her nieces Julie Alic (Venes) of Forney, Karen Glentz (Jim) of Frisco, Vickie McKeever Alizondo of Corpus Christi, Carol Dunn (Billy) of Miller Grove, Dana Weston (Rush) of Ft. Worth, Melanie Byrne (Tim) of Highland Park, Marsha Payne (Jack) of Richardson, Anna Bridges (Jesse) of Arlington, and Christie Adams (Brent) of Sachse; her nephew Eric McKeever of Arlington; and numerous great nieces and nephews who will fondly remember her love and warmth.
Mary graduated with pride from Sulphur Springs High School before embarking on a journey to Dallas, where she worked diligently as a secretary. Her life took a joyous turn when she married Johnny, and together they settled in Miller Grove. Mary dedicated many fulfilling years as a librarian at the Middle School in Sulphur Springs, before retiring to spend more time nurturing her community and passions. For over four decades, Mary was an active and devoted member of the Miller Grove Community Church, where her melodious piano playing graced countless services, weddings, funerals, and the cherished First Saturday in May Memorial service for the Miller Grove Cemetery. Her love for music was matched only by her love for people, and she found joy in attending gospel concerts and exploring new places, always eager to make new friends along her journeys. Mary was a woman of remarkable warmth and generosity, known for her penchant for taking charge of projects and her unwavering dedication to keeping in touch with friends, often with her cell phone in hand during evening chats. Her spirit of friendship and community was a guiding light to all who knew her.
A celebration of Mary’s life will be held on April 18, 2026, at 1:00 PM, at the Miller Grove Community Church, located at 7819 FM 275, Miller Grove, TX 75433 with Rev. Duncan Graham officiating and Stevie Tipps, Brandon Darrow, Calvin Earp, Marlon Jones serving as pallbearers.
