Senate Bill To Ban COVID Mandates In Texas Legislature

March 21, 2023- Senate Bill 29 proposed by Sen. Brian Birdwell to limit some of the COVID-related mandates that may be imposed due to the virus. With a vote of 7-3 a Texas Senate Committee has sent Bill 29 to the full Senate. If approved by the Senate, the bill would then make it’s way over the House. Bill 29 prohibits mask and vaccine mandates and local governments from shutting down businesses and schools. The House has also filed a similar bill to the Senate’s.

The Bill Applies only to COVID-19 and its related variants, and does not apply to any future unknown viruses.
