Bruce “Pops” Logan

A funeral service for Bruce “Pops” Logan, age 94 of Dike, Texas will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Elder Dale Vreeland officiating. Interment will follow at Sulphur Springs City Cemetery with Russell Logan, Paul Logan, Mark Doughty, Joe Don Joslin, Asa Joslin and Pete Doughty serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, August 25, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mr. Logan passed away on August 21, 2022, at Hospice of East Texas in Tyler.

Bruce was born on November 26, 1927, in Dike, Texas, to Ernest Asberry and Flora Pearl (Williams) Logan. He married Nellie Elizabeth Meadows on January 21, 1953, in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Nellie preceded him in death. Bruce later married Arlene Donna Walbuck Doughty on January 28, 1978, in Rockwall, Texas. He was a veteran of the United States Army, where he served in World War II and the Korean War. Bruce was a laboratory supervisor at Diamond Shamrock. He was involved with the Hopkins County Republican Party and was an election judge. He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Terrell, Texas.

He is survived by his sons, Russell Logan and wife Sharon, James Doughty and wife Susan, Michael Doughty and wife Cathy, Mark Doughty and wife Danna, and Pete Doughty and wife Nancy; daughters, Susan Willard, Cindy Holt, and JoAnn Wilson and husband John; grandchildren, Paul Logan, Joshua Logan, Buddy Johnson, Mike Johnson, Shelly Thornton, Shawn Johnson, Kevin Willard, Kimberly Whaley, Billy Willard, Randy Willard, Lisa Willard, David Johnston, Michael Johnston, Clarinda Broesch, Carl Williams Jr., Dana Butler, Kelly Lena, Patricia Doughty, Cheryl Leydendecker, Sharon Lawson, Andy Doughty, Michelle Bustos, Mark Doughty Jr., Donald Doughty, Tanya Rice, Lisa Glover, Ashely Doughty, Amy Doughty, Harry Holt Jr., Charles Holt, Wendy Doyle, and Ryan Peterson; and numerous great-grandchildren.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; and his brothers, Ernest Asberry Logan Jr., Asa Williams Logan, and Byron Morris Logan; sisters, Edith Marie Joslin, Yonna Jean Sweden, and Jo Ann Davidson; and children, Michael Robert Logan, Randal Charles Logan and Deborah Elizabeth Logan; and stepdaughters, Ann Johnson and Dianne Johnston.
