A funeral service for Shad Austin Griner, age 20, of Pickton, Texas, will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Stone and Pastor Brad McFadden officiating. Interment will follow at Caney Cemetery, Pickton, Texas with Jason Tully, Henry Couch, Dusty Jordan, JC Luvender, Joel Crosby and Paul Fitzmaurice serving as pallbearers; and Johnny Walker and Matthew Peyton serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Shad passed away on Wednesday, March 9, in Pickton, Texas.
Shad was born on March 16, 2001, in Sulphur Springs, Texas, to James David Griner and Jennifer (Lunsford) Griner. He was of the Baptist faith. Shad loved his family, animals, and his dog, Opie, who preceded him in death. He also enjoyed playing video games, watching movies, and hunting.
He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Griner and Greg Couch of Pickton; father, Jay Griner of Pittsburg; brothers, Tristan Griner of Sulphur Springs, Seth Griner and Shayden Griner of Pickton; sister, Jewely Holladay and daughter, Aniston Holladay of Mount Vernon; grandparents, Mickie and Billy Lunsford of Sulphur Bluff, and Jody Griner of Sulphur Springs; great-grandmother, Floy Elmore; aunt, Sharron and Johnny Wetzel; niece, Aniston Holladay; cousins, Trey and Ty Wetzel; and many other aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great grandfather, Cliff Elmore
