He began his professional career at Bell Helicopter working on the V22 Osprey program. From there Mike went to various companies including Siemens and MultiCam, and pursued several entrepreneurial ventures with Kinetic Garage and Ortho-automation.

Mike enjoyed many different genres of music and Sci-Fi narratives. He would go to Bass Hall for classical music or the observatory for a Laser Floyd show. No matter what the project, there was always music playing in the background. Mike ensured the music quality was top notch with his high tech stereo equipment. His all time favorite Sci-Fi series was Star Trek, owning a plethora of the comics, novels, and other memorabilia.

He would use his engineering talents in combination with his innovative thinking to solve many a complex problem. Mike enjoyed working on cars, from designing and building his own car, to performing restorations of old classic cars. Mike’s pride and joy was working on his home-built car with his brother, Steve, as they constructed the car from ground up. His helpful nature allowed him to meet many car enthusiasts as he assisted others in bringing their dream car project to life. Mike was generous with his time and always made himself available to help friends and friends of friends. He was always willing to lend a hand and never expected anything in return. It didn’t matter if it was car related or not, Mike was there to help. This was a true testament to his generosity and beautiful character. With everyone he met, he brought joy and laughter with his exuberant smile.

Mike is survived by his brothers, Jeffrey Bennett and Stephen Bennett; his three nieces, Ashley Hansen, Bridget Bennett, and Sydney Bennett.

Though Mike never had any children of his own, he loved playing, working, and teaching the children in his life. Therefore, the family’s request in lieu of flowers, wish for loved ones to remember Mike by contributing to any children’s charity of their choice.
