Funeral services for Joyce L. Rowell, age 87, of Dallas will be conducted at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 5, 2022, at West Oaks Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Emblem Cemetery with Michael Stephens, James Rowell, Steve Hayter, Terry Solomon, Alejandro Ramirez, Kimberly Ramirez, and Sarah Stephens serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be at 2:00 p.m., one hour prior to service time. Joyce passed away at the Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, Texas on January 29, 2022.
She was born on December 11, 1934, in Teague, Texas, the daughter of Hobart Morrison and Daisy Blakney Morrison. Joyce married Floyd Rowell on March 4, 1955, in Dallas, TX. They were married for 63 years before Floyd’s passing in September, 2018. She worked as an insurance billing clerk at several companies – including Blue Cross, Blue Shield and United American. She was a member of the Nazarene church and served the Lord in many volunteer roles.
Left to cherish her memory are sons, Larry G. Rowell and James A. Rowell, both of Dallas, TX; daughter, Patricia A. Stephens and husband Michael of The Colony, TX; sister, Wanda Goodan Wolfe of Gardiner, Oregon; grandchildren, Sarah Stephens of Plano, TX; Kimberly Ramirez and husband Alejandro of Van, Texas; great-grandchildren, Gabriel Ramirez and Benjamin Ramirez of Van, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, infant son, Ronald Glen Rowell, brothers, Edward Morrison, Harvey Morrison, and Dale Morrison, and sister, Theresa Solomon.
