Irma Jean, age 95 of Mount Vernon, Texas, went to be with Jesus Saturday, August 28, 2021. She was born June 18, 1926, to Thomas Melton and Minnie Aura Withrow Hargis at home in Tira Texas.
She was a member of First Christian Church Mount Pleasant, Texas.
Jean was best known as longtime head cook at Mt Pleasant County Club. Everyone one loved her pies and dressing. Jean had many careers she worked at Andes Kwik Way Door Factory, Holiday Inn, Winfield Truck Stop, Grandma’s Fried Chicken and as a bookkeeper for various places in Mount Pleasant.
She was an animal lover, especially her cat Baby.
Jean was preceded in death by her parents and sister Melverne Glosup.
She is survived by children Thomas and Tavie Spivey, Debbie and Jay Castle, Mike and Cindy Smith, Almie and Kathy Smith, Curtis and Paula Smith, and Ronnie and Brenda Smith; 18 Grandchildren; 40 Great-Grandchildren; 11 Great-Great-Grandchildren; and also her special niece, Jackie Verne Bowling.
Jean was most proud of her family and loved them all dearly! Everyone that knew Jean loved her.
There will be a celebration of her life at a later date.
