Funeral service for Billy Dan Smith, age 70, of Sulphur Springs, Texas, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel with Buddy Wiggins officiating. Interment will follow at Finley Cemetery in Finley, OK, with Steven Smith, Zachery Smith, Caleb Smith, Dyllan Smith, William Smith and Jessee Collins serving as pallbearers; and Mason Davis, Logan Davis, Ethan Davis, Skyler Smith, Sayler Smith, Ryder Collins, Rylan Collins, Beau Smith and Rhyatt Cullers serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held on hour prior to the service. Mr. Smith passed away on August 14, 2021, at CHRISTUS Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
Billy was born on June 16, 1951, in Dallas, Texas, to James Hugh and Lillian Elizabeth (South) Smith. He married Geneva Brown on July 13, 1970, in Dallas, Texas. Billy served in United States Marine. He worked as a mechanic. Billy was a member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his daughters, Shelia Smith, and Shannon Allen and husband, Joel; son, Steven Smith and wife Stephanie; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Billy was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James Russell “Rusty” Smith.
