Funeral service for Valton Teer, age 88, of Como, TX will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, June 6, 2021, at Greenpond Baptist Church with Bro. Terry Bolton and Bro. BJ Teer officiating. Interment will follow at Black Oak Cemetery with Dustin Barrett, Jeremy Pool, Richard Pool, John Glenn, Jacob Glenn, and Larry Brown serving as pallbearers and the men’s Sunday school class at Greenpond Baptist Church serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Mr. Teer passed away on June 4, 2021 at Christus Mother Frances – Sulphur Springs.
Valton was born on February 16, 1933, in Greenpond, Texas to George and Nettie (Jnowski) Teer. He married Doris Merlene Teer on June 5, 1953, in Como, Texas. He worked for over 50 years at Rockwell International and then at Como Post Office. Valton was a former Councilman for the city of Como. He was a member of the Greenpond Baptist Church for over eighty years and a deacon throughout the years.
He is survived by his wife, Merlene; son, BJ Teer and wife Janice; grandchildren, Jeremy Pool, Richard Pool, Misty Teer, Christy Teer and Mandy Barrett and her husband, Dustin; and great-grandchildren, Grayson Barrett, Madilynn Barrett and Elliott Pool.
Valton was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Debbie Pool; son, Gary Dwyane Teer; sisters, Dorothy Starrett and Lavona Qualls.
