Funeral service for Roberta Bruce, age 103, of Breaux Bridge, LA will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, June 18, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Park with Russell Bruce, Terry Bruce, Tim Pontiff, Donnie Bruce, James Bruce and Britton Bruce serving as pallbearers and Roy Light and Chris Pontiff serving as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 17, 2021, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Bruce passed away on June 13, 2021, at St. Agnes Nursing Home in Breaux Bridge, LA.
Roberta was born on May 13, 1918 in Avery, Texas, to Codie and Donna (Windsor) Smith. She married Frank B. Bruce on August 19, 1937 in Texarkana, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1994. Roberta worked as a sharecropper and a dry cleaner for many years. She was a woman of the Baptist Faith.
She is survived by her son, Charlie Leon Bruce and wife, Margaret; daughter-in-law, Celestine Bruce; grandchildren, Britton Bruce, Pamela Williams, Vanessa Ingold, Tim Pontiff, Chris Pontiff, Kevin Pontiff, James Bruce, Russell Bruce and Donnie Bruce; and numerous great grandchildren.
Roberta was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, David Bruce; and half-brother, Owen Smith.
