Lady Cats Soccer Team Plays Hallsville Close Thursday But Comes Up Short, 4-3

The Lady Cats Soccer Team has had a district campaign that has featured highs and lows. That continued Thursday night (February 25) in a 4-3 loss at Hallsville.

For the first 20 minutes of the game, the Lady Cats took a 2-0 lead. Haylee Shultz scored both goals, one assisted by Janine Yamaguchi and the other unassisted.

Then over the next 15 to 20 minutes, the Lady Bobcats answered with 3 goals of their own. Lady Cats Coach Javier Aguayo said he felt like his team had some dominating moments in the second half but he said errors kept hurting the Lady Cats. After one error, Hallsville scored a second half goal to go up, 4-2. The Lady Cats fought back and got a goal back. Angel Cruz scored on a set piece to cut the deficit to 4-3. The Lady Cats were unable to get the tying goal over the last 6 minutes of the match.

The Lady Cats are 3-3 in district play with one of their wins in a shootout. The Lady Cats season record is 8-7-4.

The Lady Cats open the second half of district play Saturday against Longview at Gerald Prim Stadium. Plans call for the Varsity game at 10 a.m. Saturday followed by a JV contest at around noon.
