Wildcats Soccer Team Gets First Win Of The Season Friday In Forney Tournament

After playing to a 2-2 tie with Mesquite Poteet Friday morning, January 8, the Wildcats Soccer Team got their first win of the season Friday afternoon, 3-0 over Dallas South Oak Cliff in the Forney Kickoff Tournament. The Wildcats are 1-1-1 in the tournament and 1-2-1 for the season.

Against Poteet, the Wildcats got two goals from Omar Hernandez, one on a penalty kick. Wildcats Soccer Coach Alexi Upton said the Wildcats had another bad start against the Pirates. He said the Wildcats are struggling out of the gate and are having to play catch up. He also said the Wildcats were unlucky on some penalty calls or non-calls.

In the win over SOC, the Wildcats got a goal from Edgar Salazar assisted by Alex Yanez, another goal by Hernandez assisted by Josh Tavera and a goal from Uriel Santacruz assisted by Hector Hernandez. Coach Upton said the Wildcats got the win they desperately needed. He said everyone got to play and, he said, everyone played well.
