Melvin Leon Clayton

Melvin Leon Clayton was born September 26, 1952 to Frank and Mardell Clayton.  He attended school at North Hopkins and was a 1970 graduate.  He was united in Holy Matrimony to Elizabeth Ann Godbolt on June 19, 1970. To this union three children were born.  Melvin was a member at St. Luke Baptist Church.  He retired from Flowserve after 44 years of employment. He loved taking care of his neighbors and their lawns during retirement.  In his earlier years, Melvin was an awesome softball and baseball coach that led many teams to championships.  He is loved and will be remembered by many of his former players.

Gone but not forgotten he leaves to cherish his memory one son and daughter-in-law Christopher Keith and  Curtrena Clayton of Sulphur Springs, Texas;  one daughter Melanie Annette Clayton of Commerce, Texas; Two grandsons Christopher Clayton and Cody Clayton; Three granddaughters Kynnedi Jackson, Kylee Jackson, and Cayelin Crow; and one great-granddaughter Sadie Jane Clayton; 0ne brother Quon Clayton (Keitha) of Sulphur Springs, Texas; five sisters Frankie Sanders (Joe) of Sweeny, TX, Mollie Shepard, Linda Nash, Reva Wright all of Sulphur Springs, TX, and Shanna Johnson (Patrick) of Harelton, TX.  He also leaves sisters and brother in laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Mardell, one sister Reba Dell, one child Rondrick Andre Clayton, and his loving wife Elizabeth Ann Clayton.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2020 at East Caney Cemetery. There will be a come and go visitation from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 4, 2020 at West Oaks Funeral Home. www.westoaksfuneralhome.com.
