Lady Cats Basketball Tied for Fourth in District

Lady Cats Basketball Team Ends District Play in a Fourth Place Tie with Lindale After Tuesday Games

The Lady Cats Basketball Team had a hard time solving Texas High’s full court press as the Lady Tigers took a 55-39 win in Sulphur Springs Tuesday evening (February 11). To make their task harder, Lady Cats talented freshman Kenzie Willis appeared to re-injure her ankle in the first period. Helped by numerous turnovers, the Lady Tigers went up 11-6 after one quarter, 30-14 at halftime and 44-22 after three quarters. After the game was tied 6-6 in the first quarter, Texas High went on an 18-0 run. Even though the Lady Cats outscored Texas High17-11 in the fourth quarter, the big lead built up over three quarters was far to much to overcome. Sophomore post Hannah Cordell led the Lady Cats with 12 points. Senior Kate Womack scored 9 points. Freshman Serenity Lewis scored 7 points. Junior Nylah Lindley scored 4 points. Freshman Addisyn Wall had 3 points. Junior Bre’Asia Ivery and senior Colbria Harrison scored 2 points each. Texas High senior Kerrighan Dunn led all scorers with 15 points. With Mount Pleasant’s stunning upset of district champ Royse City Tuesday, Mount Pleasant and Texas High end up tied for second place in the district with 7-3 records. After Lindale defeated Greenville in Lindale Tuesday, the Lady Eagles and Lady Cats wind up tied for the fourth and final playoff s;pot with 3-7 records. The Lady Cats season record is now 10-23.
