The Wildcats Basketball Team, ranked #9 in Class 5A, steadily built a lead throughout their game Tuesday night, January 28, at Royse City winning 69-43.
The Wildcats led 18-13 after one quarter buoyed by four three-point baskets by sharpshooting senior Grayson McClure. Senior Day Day Hall took over in the second quarter scoring 10 points as the Wildcats increased their lead at the half, 37-24. Senior Cameron Kahn joined Hall and McClure in the scoring parade in the third quarter as the Wildcats lead grew to 55-31. The Wildcats outscored the Bulldogs, 14-12 in the fourth quarter.
Hall ended up with 26 points, including numerous dazzling shots around the basket. McClure totaled 21 points on seven made three’s. Kahn added 9 points. Sophomore Justin Haire had 5 points. Junior Boo Wilkerson and sophomore Caleb Alexander both scored 3 points on a made three-pointer. Junior point guard Lamodrick Johnson scored 2 points.
Royse City got 11 points apiece from sophomore Donavon Alexander and senior Jaylen Davis.
The Wildcats are now 3-1 in district play and 21-7 for the season. The Wildcats finish up a three game road trip with a district game at Lindale Friday night.
