State Ranked Royse City Stays Unbeaten in District With Home Win Over Lady Cats Basketball Team Tuesday

The Royse City Lady Bulldogs Basketball Team, ranked #10 in Class 5A, got off to a good start at home Tuesday night, January 28, and remained unbeaten in district play with a 54-29 win over the Lady Cats.

The Lady Cats managed only a single basket in the first quarter as they fell behind, 13-2 after the first quarter. The deficit grew at halftime to 27-14. The Lady Bulldogs pushed their lead to 46-21 after three quarters. Both teams scored 8 points in the fourth quarter.

Royse City improves to 6-0 in district play and 23-5 for the season. The Lady Cats slip to 1-5 in district play and 8-21 for the season.

The Lady Bulldogs lone senior, Maci Bookout, led all scorers with 16 points. For the Lady Cats, junior Nylah Lindley scored 10 points before fouling out late in the game. Freshman Kenzie Willis had 6 points. Junior Bre’Asia Ivery and sophomore Hannah Cordell scored 4 points apiece. Freshman Addisyn Wall had 3 points on a made three-pointer. Senior Kate Womack added 2 points.

The Lady Cats continue district play at Lindale Friday evening.
