New Wildcats Assistant Basketball Coach Austin Fleming on Saturday Morning Coaches Show

Wildcats Basketball Coach Clark Cipoletta lost both of his assistant coaches after last season as they accepted opportunities after the Wildcats magical season. Coach Cipoletta was able to hire three coaches to replace them. He said that gave him a staff to equal lots of other Class 5A programs. Earlier this season, Wildcats Assistant Coach Sean Coleman was a guest on KSST and Cable Channel 18’s Saturday Morning Coach’s Show. Assistant Austin Fleming was on The Coach’s Show last Saturday (January 4) and Assistant Joe Garcia will be on soon. Coach Fleming is the Wildcats Freshman Basketball Coach as well as an assistant varsity coach. Coach Fleming is a native of Edgewood and attended Louisiana Tech. He was an assistant at a Pittsburg junior high school for two years and was Head Basketball Coach at Class 1A Zephyr for one year before coming to Sulphur Springs this season. Coach Fleming said one of his main varsity game assignments is to determine what out of bounds plays the Wildcats will run. He said Coach Cipoletta also discusses offense with him and even calls him his offensive coordinator. Coach Fleming said he is enjoying his first year at Sulphur Springs. He said his freshmen players are a bunch of gym rats who love the game. Coach Fleming said they have played a lot of good Class 6A teams. He said he is grateful to be working for a coach like Clark Cipoletta who knows the game so well. He said Coach Cip is very detail oriented and leaves no stone unturned when preparing for an opponent.
