Wood County Sheriff’s Report July 24-30, 2019

July 24th

  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:10 a.m., in reference to an animal complaint on CR 4510 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Main St. in Yantis, at approximately 11:56 a.m., in reference to credit/debit card abuse. Actors, or actors unknown, used the reporting party’s credit/debit card without authorization. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:26 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat on CR 2332 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2169 near Quitman, at approximately 3:03 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2373 near Mineola, at approximately 5:30 p.m., in reference to theft. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Quitman, at approximately 6:12 p.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • At 7:46 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 154 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Fm 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 8:38 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 10:10 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

July 25th

  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2164 near Quitman, at approximately 1:24 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:42 a.m., in reference to possible credit/debit card abuse on CR 3875 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4760 near Winnsboro, at approximately 9:50 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 57, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:40 a.m., in reference to criminal trespass on FM 1804 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 11:50 a.m., in reference to a scam on CR 4930 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4539 near Winnsboro, at approximately 1:35 p.m., in reference to criminal trespass. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 852 near Winnsboro, at approximately 2:20 p.m., in reference to possible theft. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3480 near Hawkins, at approximately 3:16 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Parties were separated for the day.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 4870 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:59 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any damage.
  • At 6:29 p.m., cows were reported out on HWY 37 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 6:38 p.m., in reference to harassment on FM 1643 near Winnsboro.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1750 near Yantis, at approximately 7:30 p.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3220 near Quitman, at approximately 8:24 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any activity.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 2437 near Mineola; at approximately 9:10 p.m. Deputies located the vehicle and cleared the incident.

July 26th

  • Deputies were dispatched to Spring Lake Knoll Trail near Hawkins, at approximately 8:04 a.m., in reference to an inquest. A male, 83, was found deceased in his residence. The Justice of the Peace was notified and no autopsy was ordered.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3265 near Quitman, at approximately 11:12 a.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s property.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3229 near Quitman, at approximately 1:23 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s mailbox.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3238 near Quitman, at approximately 2:09 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole the reporting party’s mailbox.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 2:21 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances on CR 4700 near Winnsboro. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3270 near Mineola, at approximately 3:10 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole the reporting party’s mailbox.
  • At 4:26 p.m., cows were reported out on FM 2966 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Lake Hawkins point, at approximately 7:06 p.m., in reference to an assault and a robbery. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3220 near Quitman, at approximately 7:31 p.m., in reference to shots fired. Deputies made contact with the individual and advised him to shoot in a safe direction.
  • At 9:06 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4137 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Quitman, at approximately 11:52 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies located the garage door that was open, but did not locate any signs of theft.

July 27th

  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Yantis, at approximately 12:44 a.m., in reference to a disturbance where an assault occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 1:22 a.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.
  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 80 near Hawkins; at approximately 8:22 a.m. Christopher Jordan, 21, of Hawkins, was arrested for Possession of Marijuana.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 4730 near Winnsboro; at approximately 10:11 a.m. Maburn George, 69, of Winnsboro, was arrested for an outstanding warrant.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2311 near Mineola, at approximately 11:57 a.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • At 1:02 p.m., horses were reported out on FM 515 near Yantis.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 3163 near Quitman; at approximately 4:21 p.m. Donald Brian, 56, of Quitman, was arrested for outstanding warrants.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3999 near Winnsboro, at approximately 5:13 p.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies made contact with the reporting party and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Holly St. in Alba, at approximately 6:20 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3999 near Winnsboro, at approximately 7:45 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • At 8:43 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 4560 near Winnsboro.

July 28th

  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 14 near Hawkins, at approximately 12:41 a.m., in reference to an assault that occurred. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1700 near Yantis, at approximately 12:46 a.m., in reference to a dispute. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the actor.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:30 p.m., in reference to terroristic threat on CR 1590 near Alba. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • At 3:24 p.m., cows were reported out on CR 2205 near Mineola.
  • At 7:21 p.m., horses were reported out on HWY 37 near Quitman.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Mineola, at approximately 9:50 p.m., in reference to a reckless driver. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 1977 near Alba, at approximately 10:08 p.m., in reference to a noise complaint. Deputies located the individuals and advised them to lower the volume of the music.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Katy St. in Alba, at approximately 11:25 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies made contact with the key holder and everything was OK.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Johnson Lane near Yantis, at approximately 11:47 p.m., in reference to suspicious circumstances. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate any suspicious activity.

July 29th

  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on Main St. in Yantis; at approximately 9:32 a.m. Jenifer Nichols, 31, of Quitman, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 10:45 a.m., in reference to a scam on CR 3265 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 37 near Quitman, at approximately 11:41 a.m., in reference to a disturbance. Deputies spoke with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 154 near Quitman, at approximately 11:58 a.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole a license plate from the reporting party’s vehicle.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 12:36 p.m., in reference o a scam on CR 3163 near Quitman. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3155 near Quitman, at approximately 12:51 p.m., in reference to criminal mischief. Actors, or actors unknown, damaged the reporting party’s mailbox.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 1:31 p.m., in reference to credit/debit card abuse on CR 2332 near Mineola. Actors, or actors unknown, used the reporting party’s credit/debit card without authorization.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious person on FM 14 near Hawkins; at approximately 1:37 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies were dispatched to FM 2966 near Yantis, at approximately 4:49 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies located the individual and everything was OK.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 5:20 p.m., in reference to a scam on CR 2234 near Mineola. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 4430 near Winnsboro; at approximately 9:24 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.
  • Deputies went out on an arrest/warrant service to CR 2667 near Mineola; at approximately 11:01 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to make contact with the individual.

July 30th

  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 4250 near Winnsboro; at approximately 2:52 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on CR 1907 near Yantis; at approximately 4:54 a.m. Deputies located the vehicle and everything was OK.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 8:01 a.m., in reference to harassment on CR 3689 near Hawkins. Deputies made contact with all parties involved and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to Indian Gap near Quitman, at approximately 12:24 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several items from the reporting party’s property.
  • Deputies were dispatched to PR 7477 near Hawkins, at approximately 1:04 p.m., in reference to theft. Actors, or actors unknown, stole several firearms from the reporting party’s property. This case has been forwarded to investigators.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 2132 near Quitman, at approximately 3:16 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. EMS transported the individual to the hospital.
  • Deputies were dispatched to CR 3859 near Mineola, at approximately 3:21 p.m., in reference to an alarm. Deputies checked the building and it was secure.
  • Deputies spoke with the reporting party, at approximately 4:51 p.m., in reference to a scam on Cypress Cove near Hawkins. Deputies gave the reporting party advice and cleared the incident.
  • Deputies were dispatched to HWY 80 near Mineola, at approximately 7:15 p.m., in reference to a welfare check. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the individual.
  • Deputies conducted a traffic stop on HWY 154 near Quitman; at approximately 11:06 p.m. David Wall, 58, of Quitman, was arrested for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tamper/Fabricate Physical Evidence.
  • Deputies responded to a suspicious vehicle on FM 2225 near Quitman; at approximately 11:16 p.m. Deputies searched the area, but were unable to locate the vehicle.

  • Between the dates of July 24 and July 30, Wood County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to multiple agency assists that included the following: Emergency Medical Services, Winnsboro Police Department, Mineola Police Department, Alba Police Department, Nacogdoches County Sheriff’s Office and Upshur County Sheriff’s Office.

Total Jail Count –119 inmates – 97 males and 22 females.
