Tira News for June 26, 2019

Joyce Dodd reports that the next Bible study at the Tira Methodist Church will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2. Everyone is welcome.

The Tira Food Pantry has been getting quite a bit of use. As always, I appreciate the council members who do a great job of keeping it stocked and all the people who donate food for the cause.

This tree in the Tira area was damaged by last week’s storm.

The storm that came through overnight last Wednesday caused a lot of tree damage in the area. We are thankful that there were no reports of injury.

The Tira Homecoming is coming up and will be held on Sunday, July 7th. I’m looking forward to the program that Danna Lewis is coordinating. We will have special music by Jerry Brandenburgh and Danna and we always have a time for folks to share memories of time spent in Tira. Also, there will be a brief business meeting. The program will start at 11 a.m. in the Tira Methodist Church and a covered dish lunch will be shared at the picnic tables afterward.

Our daughter and granddaughter, Tiffany and Jaidyn, drove in from Malvern, Arkansas, on Saturday evening. Jaidyn visited her dad, Malcolm, and her friend, Maygan and her family, who will be leaving to spend the summer in Pennsylvania with relatives. Tiffany attended First Baptist Church with us on Sunday at 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m., and Posey Baptist Church at 11 that morning. While they were here, we enjoyed playing games and doing a little scrapbooking. Also, Rylan, Brailon, and Slaiden came and played with Jaidyn and Maygan for a while on Monday afternoon.

I always need and appreciate input from my friends to help keep me informed of news in our community. If you have any news pertaining to Tira residents, past or present, please contact me, Jan Vaughn 903-438-6688 or [email protected].
