Perhaps the highlight of this otherwise slow sports week is 7 on 7 football competition on this game day Thursday (May 23). Van and Commerce will be coming to the Multipurpose Building to take on two of the Wildcats 7 on 7 teams. Play begins at around 5:30 p.m. and is expected to go on for about two hours. Some Wildcats players will be missing as they are attending a combine at Kilgore Thursday that will give East Texas football players a chance to be evaluated by college scouts. This is the fourth 7 on 7 competition for the Wildcats this season.. They played Lindale and Paris here on April 30. They attended a benefit tournament at Paul Pewett on May 4. Gilmer came here last week on May 14. Wildcats coaches indicate they are probably playing a little more 7 on 7 this year so players can get increased reps throwing, catching and covering.
