Traffic Stop Results In 2 Controlled Substance Arrests

Sulphur Springs Police Officer Zach Brown arrested two Sulphur Springs men Saturday on a controlled substance charge each after allegedly finding cocaine in their possession.

Brown reportedly stopped a Chevrolet 1500 at 8:04 p.m. May 18 on Kyle Street for an equipment violation. The pickup was occupied by two Sulphur Springs men, identified in arrest reports as 18-year-old Jesus Daniel Olguin and 27-year-old Juan A. Ramirez-Morales.

Brown, in arrest reports, alleged he could smell a what he suspected to be a marijuana odor and observed open alcohol containers on the truck. A search of the vehicle revealed a bag with a while substance believed to be cocaine, along with other drug paraphernalia; the substance tested positive as cocaine using a field test kit, resulting in both men being arrested, Brown alleged in arrest reports.

Both Ramirez-Morales and Olguin were released from the county jail May 19 on $30,000 bond on the possession of 4 grams of more but less than 200 grams of a Penalty Group 1 controlled substance charge, according to jail reports.
